🔶 Vance: Iran must bring passage through the Strait of Hormuz back to the pre-engagement level

JD Vance, the U.S. vice president, said on Saturday, August 8, that Washington expects Iran to restore the passage of oil and gas through the Strait of Hormuz to the level before the start of hostilities, and to ensure the security of commercial vessels in this strategic waterway.

The vice president of the United States also said: “We don’t trust, we verify. We don’t look at what people say; we look at what they do.”

Vance said that Washington is also following Iran’s statements about the possibility of collecting tolls from vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

He added: “The Iranians have told us they don’t have a plan to collect tolls from the Strait of Hormuz.”

Vance added that the United States will also judge Iran in this regard based on its actions.

According to him, Iran and Gulf countries, especially Oman, have discussed ways to maintain safe maritime traffic.

Vance claimed that at the beginning of the hostilities, Iran had “put a lot of mines” in the area.
