🔶 Oman called talks with Iran about the Strait of Hormuz “positive” after condemning attacks

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman said on Saturday, August 8, that talks with Iran about the future management of the Strait of Hormuz were “positive and constructive,” while warning about “repeated attacks on passing ships” through this strait.

In a statement, Oman’s foreign ministry condemned the attacks, but did not directly name Iran.

The position comes as Tehran continues to emphasize its own requested limitations and conditions for the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

Muscat said that ongoing negotiations about navigation arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz are proceeding with an approach that is “positive.”

Oman’s foreign ministry also urged the parties to refrain from any action that could jeopardize progress in the negotiations.
