🔸 Yemen’s government announced that Iran-backed Houthis fired six ballistic missiles at the port of Mocha in the Red Sea on Friday, 23 Mordad, killing at least four civilians.
🔸 According to Yemen’s armed forces aligned with the government, the attack targeted a civilian facility as well as the port’s economic and maritime infrastructure.
🔸 In the attack, a port security guard was killed, two sailors went missing, and eight civilians were also injured.
🔸 The attack comes as tensions between the Houthis and the Saudi Arabia-backed government have increased, raising concerns about a return to widespread fighting in Yemen.
🔸 Yemen’s civil war began in 2014 after the Houthis took control of Sana’a, and since 2022 most fighting had been reduced under a ceasefire mediated by the United Nations.
