🔶 15-Year Prison Sentence Announced for Yalda Miri, Photojournalist

Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) has reported that Yalda Miri, a photojournalist, was sentenced in absentia by Branch 29 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court to 15 years in prison.

According to this report, Miri announced in a post that a 15-year prison sentence had been issued for her. The hearing on the charges against this photojournalist was held in Branch 29 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court in the month of Tir (July), without her presence.

HRANA has written that Miri did not provide further details, including about the charges brought against her and the examples of these charges.

In Bahman (February) of last year as well, the home of the photojournalist was searched by security officers and a number of her electronic devices were seized.

Yalda Miri, a photojournalist and a member of the Association of Iranian Photographers, had previously been sentenced by the Tehran Revolutionary Court in Dey (January) 1401 (2022) to imprisonment and additional penalties; including providing free public services as a municipal cleaner (sanitation worker).

Miri had also previously been detained and faced judicial encounters due to her activities.
