🔸After a month of silence and relative calm in the Persian Gulf, following a new military confrontation between Iran and the United States that took place early Monday, global oil prices rose at the start of weekly trading in Asian markets, and the North Sea Brent oil benchmark increased by nearly 3% compared with Friday, trading at $90.60 per barrel.
🔸The other key oil trading benchmark, West Texas Intermediate (WTI), also rose by 2.5% to reach $85.76 per barrel.
🔸Global oil prices had fallen over the past week after reports that oil tankers had increased their passage through the Strait of Hormuz under the supervision of the U.S. Army.
