🔸Anwar Gargash, the UAE president’s adviser on diplomatic affairs, in reaction to the latest military clashes between Iran and the United States that took place on Sunday night, wrote on the X social network with implicit criticism of the Islamic Republic: “A situation neither at war nor at peace cannot be a sustainable solution, and the policy of targeting the Gulf states and Jordan has proven its ineffectiveness.”
🔸The UAE government official introduced “realistic and sustainable political solutions that address the political and economic dimensions of the crisis” as a necessity today, and wrote that this solution “begins with reducing tensions and the return of normal shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, leading to a more realistic approach.”
🔸Gargash considered this path beyond the Islamabad agreement, which, as he wrote, “failed to provide an operational and acceptable roadmap.”
🔸Relations between Tehran and Abu Dhabi have been marked by tension following Iran’s targeting of the UAE in response to attacks by the United States and Israel over the past few months.
🔸Last week, the UAE announced that it will halt all its commercial dealings with Iran.
