At the same time as the fuel crisis intensifies in Iran, the government spokesperson announced the removal of subsidized gasoline quotas of 1,500 and 3,000 tomans for older and worn-out vehicles.

Images shared on social media and messages received by Iran International indicate the formation of long lines at fuel stations in Tehran, Alborz, Sistan and Baluchestan, South Khorasan, and Kerman. In some stations, the sale of gasoline has also been halted with a station card.

Arash Azarmi, editor of Iran International’s economics section, says the government, due to a shortage of gasoline, is seeking to limit fuel supply via station cards and add a third gasoline quota at a rate of 10,000 tomans per liter.
