🔺Attack on a ship in Hormuz; UAE: IRGC action is piracy at sea

▪ The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the Islamic Republic of Iran’s missile attack on an oil tanker affiliated with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company in the Strait of Hormuz. No casualties were reported in the attack.

▪ The statement said the attack is a clear violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2817—one that affirms freedom of navigation and rejects attacks on commercial shipping or any disruption to international sea lanes.

▪ The UAE emphasized that targeting commercial vessels and using the Strait of Hormuz as a tool of pressure or economic coercion is “piracy at sea by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps” and constitutes a direct threat to regional stability, the security of its people, and the security of global energy.
