🔶 Axios, citing Rubio: The US currently has no plans to carry out new attacks against Iran

The website “Axios” on Tuesday evening, August 25 (September 3), reported, citing an American official and a knowledgeable source, that Marco Rubio, the U.S. secretary of state, in recent days has told several foreign counterparts that the United States “for now” does not intend to launch new attacks against Iran and instead is focusing on other pressure tools, such as a package of sanctions that was recently announced, as well as continuing the naval blockade.

The American official, whose identity has not been disclosed to Axios, said that Rubio has not ruled out the possibility of any potential retaliatory attacks against Iran if Tehran were to initiate an attack.

According to this report, and in line with statements from informed sources, the U.S. secretary of state in phone calls with several of his foreign counterparts outlined the main axes of the current policy of the Trump administration as follows: refraining from military action against Iran, increasing economic pressure on the country through a naval blockade and a new wave of sanctions from the U.S. Treasury Department, and moving as much oil as possible through the Strait of Hormuz and delivering it to global markets.
