🔶 Axios: Trump prefers to increase economic pressure on the Islamic Republic
In a report written by Barak Ravid and published on Sunday, August 9 (18 Mordad), Axios says that U.S. President Donald Trump currently prefers to increase economic pressure on the Islamic Republic rather than issue an order for a new military attack against Iran; even though Tehran continues to resist Washington’s demands.
According to Axios, just a week earlier Trump had been on the verge of issuing an order to return to broad military operations against the Islamic Republic, but in a conversation with this outlet he did not raise any new military threat.
Based on this report, Trump also did not show any clear anger or dissatisfaction regarding the fact that the Islamic Republic has delayed an agreement with Oman to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
On Saturday, Tehran had presented a new list of its demands in order to allow ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
In a brief phone conversation with Axios, Trump said: “For now, we’re quietly and calmly moving forward.”
