🔶 China’s leader travels to the U.S.; talks about Iran and artificial intelligence

The trip of Xi Jinping, President of China, to the United States is an opportunity for Donald Trump, President of the United States, to discuss a range of international issues with his Chinese counterpart.

When Donald Trump talks about Xi Jinping, his tone is almost always positive. Shortly before the start of this official trip, the U.S. president had said: “We have a good relationship. Things are going very well for us with China, and me and President Xi have a good relationship.”

The importance Trump attaches to this leaders’ meeting was clear from the moment Xi Jinping arrived. Trump personally went to welcome Xi on the military airport runway of “Joint Base Andrews” near Washington.

Eidgard Kagan from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington told a nationwide German television reporter in Washington: “This is an extremely unusual occurrence.” Usually, the U.S. president welcomes a top foreign official only when the latter arrives at the White House.
