🔶 Death sentence for Ali-Asghar Peygambari, one of the detainees of the protests of Dey, has been confirmed

The death sentence for Ali-Asghar Peygambari, who was arrested during the nationwide protests of Dey 1404, has been upheld by the Supreme Court.

Branch 23 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court previously sentenced this 26-year-old man to death on the charge of “waging war against God (moharebeh).”

In its coverage of this news, the HRANA news agency wrote that, according to its investigation, this prisoner has recently been transferred from Tehran’s Greater Prison to Qezelhesar Prison in Karaj.

HRANA considers this transfer alarming, because this prison is where death sentences are carried out.

پیام درفشان (Payam Derfashan), one of Ali-Asghar Peygambari’s lawyers, also confirmed this report in an interview with Etedad: “The ruling was issued by citing the Law on Aggravating Penalties for Espionage and Cooperation with Israel, and it has also been upheld by the Supreme Court.”

Etedad writes that this attorney, while emphasizing the objections raised to the issued ruling, said: “This verdict has been issued while there is no organizational or any other kind of connection whatsoever, in any way, between my client and any of the hostile groups.”
