The European Union, in a statement issued simultaneously with the first day of the two-day “G20” meeting in the United States, announced that it will continue its close cooperation with the United States and other partners of the Group of Seven and with international allies in order to “maintain pressure on Iran and help reduce tensions and ensure regional stability.”
The statement was released alongside the meeting of the ministers of finance and the heads of central banks of the group of advanced and emerging economies on Monday, 9 Shahrivar (31 August), in Asheville, North Carolina, in the United States.
In the statement, the EU emphasized that it welcomes efforts to end Iran’s destabilizing actions and to enter into peace talks with good faith from this country, including intensified economic pressures such as the U.S.-led operation “economic eviction.”
