You cannot offset the price of $100 oil in Germany with subsidies.

Policy has to be honest enough to tell the public about this. We cannot do that.

But what we can do, for example, is to use every effort — together with our European partners — to help bring an end to the war in Iran and ensure that the Strait of Hormuz is reopened.

That is what we are working on. And reopening the Strait of Hormuz would mean that we would immediately see prices fall in energy markets, including here in Germany.
