🔶 Four and a half years in prison for a spy who took a photo from Galant’s home

The Haifa District Court in Israel sentenced a man to 55 months in prison on charges of spying for Iran, including capturing images and video near the home of Yoav Galant, Israel’s former defense minister.

Fares Abu Al-Hijaa, 32, from the Arab settlement of Kaukab in northern Israel, was accused of “contact with a foreign agent,” and the length of his sentence was determined in light of his acceptance of the charge.

He was accused of carrying out several missions for Iran between October 2025 and January 2026; the missions ended with showing up in front of Galant’s home in the Amikam settlement in northern Israel and led to the arrest of Abu Al-Hijaa at the same location.

Other missions included recording video from a cafe in Tel Aviv and concealing mobile phones, cash, and the password to a digital wallet. According to prosecutors, Abu Al-Hijaa received approximately $3,600 in total in exchange for carrying out these missions.
