Hezbollah said it will give a “proper” response to today’s Israeli air attacks on Lebanon.

The Israeli attacks, carried out earlier on Saturday, sparked widespread criticism from Lebanese officials across the political spectrum.

According to Lebanon’s Ministry of Health, the death toll from Israeli attacks on two locations in southern Lebanon—Deir al-Zahrani in the Nabatieh District and the village of Ansar—has reached 11, and 19 people have been injured.

The next round of negotiations between the Lebanese government and Israel, mediated by the United States, will be held in Rome in early next month (September).

Hezbollah once again stressed its request to halt these negotiations and called them a “humiliating path” that “hands over free concessions to the enemy.”

Israel’s army had previously said that the attacks targeted “Hezbollah’s infrastructure” in Nabatieh and Ansar in southern Lebanon, but Najib Mikati? (No—Nawaf Salam), Lebanon’s prime minister, said: “The martyrs of the Israeli attack on the village of Ansar are not considered ‘military infrastructure,’ and the women and children who died are not military targets.”

He emphasized that the bombing is “very dangerous” and undermines efforts to stabilize the south.

Nabih Berri, the speaker of Lebanon’s parliament, also called the attacks a “massacre,” and said in a statement that the aim of the attacks is the “destruction” of southern Lebanon.

He added that Israel is not committed to ceasefire agreements, nor to international laws, and does not attach importance to diplomatic efforts to end the war in Lebanon and the region.
