The leader of a paramilitary group in the Gaza Strip named “Combat Terrorism Strike Force,” which fights Hamas, announced that Israel should oppose implementing the second phase of the ceasefire agreement, because Hamas will not adhere to the ceasefire.
In an interview with The Times of Israel, Hussam al-Asthal said Hamas will never hand over its weapons, because it knows that if it hands over its weapons, it will no longer be in power.
The United States and Israel have designated Hamas as a terrorist group.
Earlier, Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, had said that his country rejects the 15-point plan supported by the United States for disarming Gaza, and that the Israeli army will not withdraw from areas under its control in the Gaza Strip until Hamas is fully disarmed.
