🔻New airstrikes by Pakistan on Afghanistan

🔻The Pakistani army announced that, in response to recent drone attacks from Afghan territory, it carried out air and drone strikes against several positions in Afghanistan.

According to reports that have been published, these attacks followed recent tensions between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban government. On Wednesday, Pakistan said that eight drones that had entered this country’s airspace from Afghanistan were shot down by Pakistan’s air defenses. Four of these drones were brought down in areas near the Torkham crossing, and the other four in mountainous areas near Kohat.

Pakistan had also carried out airstrikes in recent days against positions in eastern Afghanistan. Islamabad said that 28 militants were killed in those attacks, while Afghan officials reported the deaths of at least three civilians.

Tensions between the two countries have escalated following an increase in cross-border attacks and mutual accusations regarding the activities of armed groups along the Afghanistan–Pakistan border. The Taliban government has rejected Pakistan’s allegations that it provides shelter to armed groups opposed to Islamabad.
