🔻Political controversy in Israel following remarks by Sara Netanyahu

Sara Netanyahu’s remarks, made in an interview ahead of the national elections, have sparked controversy.

In a television interview with Israel’s Channel 14, Sara Netanyahu asked how Yair Golan, a former army general and leader of the Israel Democratic Party, learned about the October 7 attack before Benjamin Netanyahu and mobilized the forces under his command.

Democrats called the remarks “a deceitful conspiracy theory that’s bordering on madness” and condemned them.

Gadi Eisenkot, a former army commander and leader of another rival party of Mr. Netanyahu in the elections, said that Mrs. Netanyahu’s remarks were made with the aim of stoking hatred.

Israel will hold national elections in October.
