Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, said in an interview with the Argentine newspaper Clarin that nuclear talks on Iran have been halted and that, until the situation in the Strait of Hormuz becomes clear, Iran’s nuclear file will be a secondary priority.

Grossi, speaking about the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program, said that uranium “is essentially in the same place” as it was during the 12-day war, and that nuclear facilities have also suffered significant damage.

He said that partial reconstruction of some infrastructure may have begun, but there is no strong evidence to confirm it.

The head of the Agency said that Iran’s nuclear file remains one of the important unresolved issues and that the Agency is ready to resume its activities in Iran as soon as possible.

Grossi added that the Agency is still in dialogue with the United States and the Islamic Republic, but Islamic Republic officials say that, unless the overall course of the negotiations changes, they will not take a step forward on the nuclear file.
