🔻Reactions from Iranian officials to a message attributed to Mojtaba Khamenei; emphasis on support for the government and “social cohesion”

The publication of a message attributed to Mojtaba Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic, calling for support for Massoud Pezeshkian’s government and emphasizing the preservation of “social cohesion” has been met with reactions from several Iranian officials.

In a post on X, Mohsen Rezaee, the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, wrote that the Islamic Republic’s leader’s emphasis on avoiding “discouraging remarks” and “imaginary dualizations,” and on the prohibition of actions that harm social cohesion, is a “clear and unambiguous strategy.” He described national unity and social cohesion as “the most fundamental components of power and national security.”

Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf, the speaker of the parliament, also said that this message should be “before the eyes of all officials,” and added that people must avoid any “imaginary dualizations.” He called any action that harms social cohesion “nationally and religiously forbidden.”

Abbas Salehi, the minister of culture and Islamic guidance, also wrote on X that the Islamic Republic’s leader’s explicit support for the president, along with the announcement that disrupting social cohesion is prohibited, “leaves no justification for undermining the president or for political, cultural, and social dichotomization.”

At the end, he asked: “Will we witness a change in approach in the real and virtual space? We are waiting.”
