Reports indicate that embassies and consulates of the Islamic Republic abroad are increasingly using administrative and consular services to exert pressure on Iranians who oppose the government.

According to these reports, dozens of activists say that people who apply for routine services such as renewing a passport or registering a birth are confronted with an assessment of their political leanings.

The reports state that opponents of the Islamic Republic, supporters of the monarchy, and groups backing the return of the monarchic system are among those who have faced rejection of requests to receive consular services.
