🔻Roberto Piazza, the Italian head coach of Iran’s national volleyball team, in an interview with IRNA, defended the policy of youth development and generational change in the team’s lineup, and announced the readiness of the national players for the Asian Championship and the four-nation tournament in Russia.
🔹He emphasized that the best possible players among all players, both inside and outside the country, have been analyzed and selected, and said the main goal of this coaching staff is to build a hardworking team to secure a spot for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Piazza, referring to the team’s technical and mental condition, assessed the players’ development process positively and stated that improving each player’s individual ability can significantly enhance team performance.
🔹Regarding the matchup with Japan as the main rival in Asia, he rejected any fear within the team and noted that they are not afraid of them, adding that Iran’s distance from this opponent in recent matches has been very small and that beating them is possible by relying on team volleyball.
🔹The head coach of the national volleyball team also dismissed reports about his farewell or his failure to return to Iran after the Nations League as untrue, and cited special circumstances and a recommendation from the embassy as the reason for his delay.
