🔶 Saeël Arabi was sentenced to five years in prison and two years’ ban from social media activity

According to HRANA news agency, a news organization affiliated with a group of human rights activists in Iran, Saeël Arabi was sentenced to five years in prison and two years of deprivation of the right to work in connection with activities related to social networks.

Based on a ruling issued on 25 Mordad, by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Ebrahim Afshari, Saeël Arabi was convicted for the charge of “gathering and collusion with intent to commit a crime against the national security” and sentenced to five years of discretionary imprisonment, with the days of previous detention taken into account.

The court also, as an additional punishment, barred him for two years from “engaging in a job or profession or specific work related to the crime committed (activity on social media).”

In a section of the verdict, Saeël Arabi’s connection “with individuals outside the country,” the contents of the case papers, images prepared from his activity on social media, and the “officer’s reports” are cited among the documents used by the court in issuing the sentence.
