🔸Scott Bessent, U.S. Treasury Secretary, announced on the evening of Sunday, 1 Shahrivar, Washington time, that beginning at dawn on Monday, 2 Shahrivar, a fateful economic operation against Iran would begin.

🔸Referring to the fateful operation known as “D-Day” against Nazi Germany, Mr. Bessent added: “With sunrise, an ‘economic D-day’ begins; the largest financial assault that has ever been used against an enemy.”

🔸In military parlance, “D-Day” refers to the day on which a major, fateful operation begins.

🔸He described the U.S. goal of these severe pressures against the Iranian government as: “to cut off all the arteries and vital economic pathways that keep the tyrannical regime standing, so that Tehran is ultimately left completely alone.”

🔸In his message, Bessent wrote: “The president has provided the conditions so that we can draw on the full capacity of government institutions, all legal authorities, and actions that many believed we would never resort to.”
