The EU foreign policy chief said the bloc intends to sharply expand its sanctions against Russia in the coming months.
Kaja Kallas told the German newspaper Die Welt: “EU sanctions are already costing Russia dearly and have wiped out more than one trillion euros from this country’s war machine, and for the autumn I will present the most extensive sanctions listings since the start of the war.”
She added: “After adoption, these lists will immediately increase the total number of sanctioned Russian entities by one third. Pressure must increase until Moscow ends its war.”
Kallas did not provide further explanation about the timing or details of the new package.
