The United Nations Population Fund said that reported cases of gender-based violence against women and girls in the community of Gaza increased by 27% between April and June 2026, compared with the period from January to March.

Based on the findings of the agency, the most common reported form of violence was depriving women of resources and opportunities, accounting for 32% of the reported cases. It was followed by emotional violence with 30.9% and physical assault with 30.5%.

In addition, reported cases of early and forced marriage in Gaza have increased, with girls aged 12 to 17 accounting for 16% of these cases.

This assessment was prepared based on data from 10 organizations active in Gaza covered by the United Nations and includes only cases that have been reported.

The increase in reported cases can be linked to the expansion of service centers for victims of gender-based violence in the Gaza Strip, as the number of these centers rose from 64 to 74 during the period under review.
