🔶 Wadephul in a call with Iraqchi: Iran must participate constructively in negotiations to end the war

Iran’s and Germany’s foreign ministers discussed the situation in the Strait of Hormuz in a phone call. Johann Wadephul, in a post on X, wrote that in talks with Abbas Iraqchi he asked Iran to “at last participate constructively in negotiations with neighboring countries and the United States to end the conflict.”

Wadephul emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz must be “opened unconditionally” and that “free and safe navigation” for all must be guaranteed.

Meanwhile, Iranian domestic media reported that Iraqchi, in this phone conversation, said the insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz is “imposed” and is “the result of the military aggression” of the United States and Israel, and called for the “accountability” of the U.S. government by the international community due to the economic and security consequences caused by the blockage of the Strait of Hormuz.

According to these reports, the Iranian foreign minister said that securing the Strait of Hormuz requires an end to the U.S. naval blockade and this country’s “unlawful interferences.”
