While the official unemployment rate in Iran is reported at about seven percent, economic experts say that reduced economic participation, the widespread exit of people from the labor market, and the expansion of informal jobs have hidden part of the employment crisis from the statistics.

According to ILNA, since the beginning of the year and after the start of the war, about half a million people have been reduced from the country’s employed population. However, the unemployment rate announced by Iran’s Statistical Center has not changed significantly.
