🔶 Trump administration blocks entry for some journalists to G20 meeting

The U.S. Treasury Department, as the host of the G20 meeting in Asheville, North Carolina, has refused to issue credentials for several journalists from major American media outlets.

According to media reports, journalists from The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and the Bloomberg news agency have been barred from the two-day meeting of the G20 finance ministers and heads of central banks. The meeting begins on Monday, August 31, in Asheville, and the U.S. Treasury Department, as host, is responsible for arranging media access to the venue.

In a statement, Bloomberg News said that blocking the entry of journalists from the outlet “undermines press freedom and public accountability.” The outlet added that it will continue to work toward full access for journalists and will continue its reporting in a fair and accurate manner.
