🔻 Contradictory reports about maritime incidents in the Strait of Hormuz and the Sea of Oman

While Iranian sources have reported the stopping of a Saudi oil tanker in the southern corridor of the Strait of Hormuz, CENTCOM has denied the claim by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in this regard.

Meanwhile, the UK Maritime Trade Operations Centre (UKMTO) said on Monday — 31 August — that it had received a report of an incident between an oil tanker and military forces in the Indian Ocean, but that the date of the incident had been reported as Sunday, 30 August.

According to Warning No. 123-26 from this maritime trade monitoring body, the incident occurred on 30 August 2026 at 16:24 UTC.

The British maritime trade organization, without providing details about the identity of the oil tanker or the military forces involved, said that the relevant authorities are aware of the incident and that investigations are ongoing.

These reports are being published as, in recent days, several other incidents have also been reported for tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, and the warning level for commercial shipping in the region remains high.
