🔶 Criticism of Cologne city officials for failure to carry out the deportation of refugees
Cologne city officials have come under severe criticism from various German parties due to the possible refusal to carry out the return of some refugees.
Detlef Seif, spokesperson for the Christian Democratic Union/Christian Social Union parliamentary group in the German parliament, told the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger newspaper that the key question is whether the Foreigners Office of the city of Cologne has systematically prevented the deportation of refugees who, under law, are required to leave Germany.
Wolfgang Kubicki, chairman of the Free Democratic Party, described the issue as a widespread and nationwide phenomenon in Germany, and criticized it by saying that the Länder and municipalities have taken it upon themselves to set an independent immigration policy. He added that as a result, a “completely unacceptable and unconstitutional administrative procedure” has become widespread, and that the city of Cologne has intensified this process.
