The Deputy for Economic Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic said that the damages of the war are considerable, and that Tehran needs extensive investment to make up for them. He added that attractive conditions must be provided for foreign investors, including friendly countries such as Russia.
Hamid Kambari, in an interview with Sputnik, also said that the documents and policies of BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization are still in the early stages of formation, and that more work is needed for them to fully replace existing institutions.
Kambari added that Russia can be effective in strengthening the role of BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. He said that in order to develop economic relations with Russia and other northern neighbors, investment must be made in transport, currency, and banking infrastructure, and trade and tariff barriers must be reduced.
