Judicial officials of the Islamic Republic announced the discovery of the burned body of Hamidreza Rajabzadeh, a 30-year-old eulogist and supporter of the government, around Tehran. Police have detained four men and one woman in connection with the case, but the motive and details of the killing have not yet been officially announced.

Mohammad Shariyari, head of the Criminal Court Office in Tehran, said that after identification, Rajabzadeh’s body was transferred to Forensic Medicine for specialized examinations and that the perpetrators set the body on fire. Saeed Montazerolmahdi, the FARAJA spokesperson, also reported the arrest of the main suspect and the continuation of investigations.

Iranian media have reported that Rajabzadeh had been missing for more than two weeks, and before the body was discovered, a video of his injured body was posted on social media. Some media outlets have also published accounts about the manner of the killing and the motive of the defendants, but these details have not yet been confirmed by independent sources or judicial officials.

Meanwhile, the case has been accompanied by different political narratives. The human rights news agency Hengaw called for independent and impartial investigations and warned that the publication of images of the body and confessions attributed to the accused before the investigations are completed is inconsistent with the principles of fair trial and the presumption of innocence.
