The Fakstrot network is an organized criminal group with connections to the Iranian government— a group known for using hired people to carry out attacks and violent actions in exchange for money.
It is believed that since 2022, the Fakstrot network has been responsible for around 35 murders. The network is also accused of carrying out or planning several failed attacks and actions against Israeli targets in Europe; including two cases in which explosives and a hand grenade were used.
To carry out the attacks, the gang recruits teenagers in exchange for money, but in many cases they are forced not to be paid, because these teenagers are often arrested before carrying out the mission or shortly after it.
According to the Grîm Operations Group, a unit within Europol formed to combat this phenomenon, these killing teens are recruited through social media networks and receive instructions in a way similar to computer games.
