🔻Iranian Police Force says it has discovered “997 Starlink devices”
Fajrja, the law enforcement command of the Islamic Republic, says that in the first four months of this year it has discovered “997 Starlink satellite devices and their related items.”
The head of the Economic Security Police of Fajrja said: “Since the 12-day war, the police’s sensitivity to identifying and discovering Starlink satellite equipment and related items has increased, and all police units have become active in this regard from the zero point of the border to the heart of the cities.”
Hossein Rahimi also said: “In this regard, 163 people were arrested and 15 vehicles carrying Starlink equipment were also seized.”
According to him, most of these devices “were brought in from the western and northwestern borders of the country, as well as from the countries of Azerbaijan and Kurdistan Region, and from the southern seaward borders of the country, including the route of countries such as Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Oman.”
This satellite technology for connecting to the global internet in Iran is illegal. Iranian state media have reported several cases of people being arrested for having or buying and selling Starlink terminals.
The Starlink network is a satellite constellation for providing high-speed, low-latency broadband internet across the world.
