🔺Pezeshkian: If the United States returns to its commitments, we will immediately act in kind

▪ The head of the Government of the Islamic Republic said that Tehran, if the United States returns to its commitments under the Islamabad agreement, will immediately take reciprocal action.

▪ Masoud Pezeshkian, at a meeting of the heads of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, emphasized: “I state clearly that if the United States returns to its commitments under the aforementioned memorandum of understanding, the Islamic Republic of Iran will immediately take reciprocal action.”

▪ The Islamabad memorandum of understanding had envisaged a 60-day framework for a ceasefire, but within a few weeks and following the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ attacks on vessels transiting through the Strait of Hormuz, it collapsed.

▪ Last week, Donald Trump told intermediaries and regional partners that he has no interest in returning to the conditions of that memorandum of understanding.
