🔺The United States lifts the naval blockade as traffic resumes in the Strait of Hormuz
▪A U.S. official said Washington expects the Islamic Republic and Oman to reach an agreement soon regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
▪He told Reuters: “There is progress between Oman and Iran on the strait, and we expect an agreement soon,” adding: “As soon as an agreement is announced to restore unimpeded commercial shipping, the United States will lift the blockade of Iranian ports.”
▪Late Friday evening, the Axios news website, citing a diplomat from a mediator country, reported that the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic will soon confirm a temporary agreement with the United States and Oman under which the two countries will jointly monitor the strait and no fees will be charged from the ships.
