Xi Jinping, the president of China, Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, Masoud Pezeshkian, and more than a dozen other leaders have gathered in Kyrgyzstan today to take part in the two-day summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.

Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Iran, the four Central Asian countries, and Belarus, Moscow’s ally, are the member states of this organization, which is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its founding.

Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping have used the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meetings to promote a multipolar world and to present a united front against the West.

The summit is being held while four and a half years have passed since Russia’s attack on Ukraine and six months have passed since the war between Washington and Tehran.

Masoud Pezeshkian and Abbas Araqchi are Iran’s senior representatives at this summit.
