🔸 Reuters: If the Strait of Hormuz deal is announced, the US will lift the blockade of Iran’s ports

A U.S. official said on Friday that there has been progress in ongoing talks between the Islamic Republic and Oman. The negotiations are expected to lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and resume oil exports that have been disrupted following the five-month U.S.-Iran war.

Speaking to Reuters on Friday, the U.S. official, who asked not to be named, said: “There has been progress on the matter of the strait between Oman and Iran, and we expect that an agreement will be reached soon.”

He also, referring to Iran’s maritime blockade by the United States, added: “After an agreement is announced to resume unimpeded commercial shipping, the United States will lift the blockade of Iran’s ports.”

The U.S. official also, referring to such an action being conditional, said: “As always, U.S. actions will continue to be based on performance and will be tied to Iran carrying out its commitments.”
