🔻While Iranian sources have reported the stoppage of a Saudi Arabian oil tanker in the southern corridor of the Strait of Hormuz, CENTCOM has denied the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ claim in this regard.
Meanwhile, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Centre (UKMTO) said on Monday, 31 August, that it had received a report of an incident involving an oil tanker and military forces in the Indian Ocean, but that the date of the incident was reported as Sunday, 30 August.
Based on Warning 123-26 from the maritime trade monitoring body, the incident occurred on 30 August 2026 at 16:24 UTC.
Without providing details about the identity of the oil tanker or the military forces involved, the UK Maritime Trade Operations Organisation said that relevant authorities are aware of the incident and that investigations are ongoing.
The reports come as, in recent days, several other incidents have also been reported for oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, and the alert level for commercial shipping in the region remains high.
