🔶 Germany’s finance minister heads to the United States to attend the “G20” meeting

Lars Klingbeil, Germany’s finance minister from the Social Democratic Party, will attend the two-day meeting of the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors, made up of 20 developed and emerging economies of the world, in Asheville, North Carolina, USA, starting Monday, August 31.

According to a U.S. official, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent intends to use the Asheville meeting to emphasize advancing the economic isolation of Iran and make clear that sanctions against this country must be observed.

According to a report by Agence France-Presse, a spokesperson for Germany’s finance ministry said that on the sidelines of the meeting, Klingbeil will also hold bilateral talks with key partners, including the finance ministers of Canada and India.

As planned, on Tuesday, September 1, he will visit the BMW plant in South Carolina.

The United States currently holds the rotating presidency of the G20.

At the request of the United States, the meeting will also address topics such as improving economic growth and reliable supply chains for strategically important resources, such as energy.
